The USB wall charger is an integral part of charging our portable devices. Most of the portable devices that we purchase these days actually come with a wall charger such as smartphones, tablets, and many laptops are coming with wall chargers too since some of them are actually compatible with USB-C Power Delivery. Most wall chargers on the market not only have powerful charging but along with having fast charging, they can only use many charging ports.
That’s not to say other charging electronics don’t have many ports, as portable chargers can have quite a few ports and the same is true for car chargers. But when it comes to the usefulness of charging numerous devices at once, then wall chargers are going to be the best as you’re just in a single spot with your devices.
This Anker PowerPort Speed 4 wall charger is one of Anker’s best wall chargers. That’s because it has 4 charging ports and it also features Quick Charge with one of the ports. So let’s take a closer look to see if this one is right for you.
Quick Charge Port – The Quick Charge port on this power bank is exactly what it sounds like, so it’s able to charge Quick Charge compatible smartphones at their max charging speed. The Quick Charge port has an output of 3.6 – 6.5V/3.0A | 6.5 – 9V/2.0A | 9-12V/1.5A.
Also, the Quick Charge port is able to charge standard devices at a 5V/2.4A charging rate or whatever their charging speed may be, below that.
Standard USB Ports – The standard ports on this PowerPort Speed 4 wall charger are just like the Quick Charge port, just without the Quick Charge. So each of them has a charging rate of 5V/2.4A, but the max output of the standard USB side of this charger is 4.8A. As a result, you can only use the full power of two standard ports at the same time.
The max output of this wall charger is 43.5W or 8.7A. The max out of this charger actually fits it very well because when you add up the power usage of Quick Charge of 18W and the max output of the standard USB port section which is 24W, you get 42W of power. So you’re able to use the max power of the Quick Charge port, no matter if you’re charging one or three devices at once with the standard ports.
Size and Weight:
The size and weight of this wall charger are very small and lightweight, as it’s what you can expect from Anker as they’re great at fitting powerful charging tech into compact spaces. So this charger has a length and width of 2.7 inches and the thickness of the charger is 1.1 inches. The weight of the charger is 5 Ounces. Taking this charger anywhere with you is very easy as you can basically fit it into your pocket or you can just place it into a bag.
One problem that might occur and is basically unavoidable is that it will cover another AC outlet if you plug it into either a Wall AC outlet or a Surge Protector’s AC outlet. That said, if you’re plugging this into an AC outlet, the solution would be to plug this charger into the bottom outlet to avoid covering up anything.
It’s a two-prong wall charger and once you plug it in, you’re ready to use it. Also, once the charger is plugged in and is receiving power, there’s a slim Blue LED light at the top that turns on. The light from the charger is not very bright at all, and you can comfortably sleep with it on and have your smartphone charging.
The AC adapter on this charger is retractable and once you do retract it, it makes the wall charger a whole lot easier to take with you anywhere.
Structure and Material:
The entirety of this PowerPort Speed 4 is made of plastic, and it has a great build quality that Anker is known for. The USB charging ports hold very strongly to the charging cables that you plug into it. Also, as we mentioned before it has a retractable AC adapter that keeping the prongs safe during traveling.
Even when you’re charging multiple devices at once, the charger stays quite cool. That can mostly be attributed to Anker’s new charging tech that’s characterized by the Blue Quick Charge port. It means that Anker is using their heat dissipation tech that manages heat better when it comes to Quick Charge, and therefore heat is kept to a minimum or none at all. This safety tech is being used with nearly all of their charging electronics, with portable charger and car chargers included.
It’s a very reliable wall charger whether you want to charge standard devices or a Quick Change compatible one. That said, if you’re some that owns Apple devices only, such as iPhone and iPads, and don’t own a single Quick Charge compatible device, then it’s best to go for Anker’s regular PowerPort 4 as you won’t have a use for the Quick Charge tech with this PowerPort Speed 4 wall charger.
There’s powerful charging to be used with three of its 2.4A charging ports, and it’s one Quick Charge port that’s also able to charge standard ports too.
It has a very small size that’s able to go with you anywhere, and a small Blue light that indicates the charger is on and ready to use.
The build quality of this charger is great, structurally and technologically as it keeps itself cool even when you’re charging multiple devices at once.
It’s a very reliable charger that uses Quick Charge along with three standard ports. That said, if you can’t find a use for the Quick Charge tech, then it’s best to go for a wall charger that’s more standard or if you need USB-C Power Delivery, that’s also available.
